Tom Reilly

Tom is CEO of Aushorse and Thoroughbred Breeders Australia. His passion for racing began as a child when he was taken to the tracks around London. After studying International Relations at Leeds University he completed the British Horseracing Authority’s Graduate Program, enjoying an internship at Ascot racecourse. He then spent three years working in hands on roles with thoroughbreds; including as Pupil Assistant to Luca Cumani, completing a stud season in Kentucky, working on New York’s racecourses and time as an assistant to Mick Channon in England.

Tom then became a journalist and worked on London’s Fleet Street before moving to Australia where he worked at The Age and Sydney Morning Herald. His last journalism role was editing the Herald’s daily newspaper.

His favourite racing memory was watching a gelding he strapped called Boreas win a listed race by 13 lengths after returning from an injury.
